Introduction:

Nevertheless, SDN is still effective for the development of 5G network since it will present a chance of deploying these networks by cutting several, flexibility, scalability and effectiveness among the others are some of the crucial factors useful whenever it comes to the next generation telecommunication. As of now, since 5G network is being deployed globally, SDN plays a significant role in improving the management of network resources, resources/services offered in the network and orchestration significantly noticeable through network slicing, integration of edge computing and the improved mechanism of security solution.

5G network environment:

In the 5G network environment, where SDN is most affected is the network slicing section to a certain extent. For instance, in the current 5G communication model for various services like uRLLC, eMBB, mMTC, slicing, different logically separated networks are built over the single transport physical network. SDN is also useful in dealing and enabling these slices since it also manages the decision making point besides deploying a bigger number of the available fragments as deemed fit by the network. It also aims at increasing efficiency in service delivery and enable the providers to be in a position to provide various customer service to the customers depending on their needs.

Usage of resources:

Furthermore, it improves the usage of resources in 5G network because of the clear distinction accomplished through the construct of SDN between the CP and DP. Said traditional networks, there are design constraint in jointly optimizing resources for one or the other network domain such as the radio access network (RAN), the core network. To this issue, SDN offers the control-and-forwarding-plane abstraction with Global control plane capable of delegating intelligent provision of application resource and functions based on a variety of demands and the status of the network. For example if one has to use a SDN controller then in a single control point one can control and program the bandwidth of the network and can even reroute the traffic in the network from a region to another depending on the congestion level or the QoS drop hence keeping the network in its optimal state always.

However, there is an issue that SDN looks very promising in the aspects of interactions with the 5G networks which is embedded with – edge computing. It also provides location-specific data processing and delivery and this is of value since location-based applications have advantages concerning response time and can be valuable in increasing the interaction between user and applications as well as for purposes where interactivity in service delivery is increased for purposes such as AR, VR, real-time analytical services and the like. This makes it possible for SDN to meet and coordinate resources required, at the edge of the network via the SDN nodes of the edges. This integration does also for low latency assist the application and at the same time it does for low resource usage aid where the computing resources must be allocated based on dependents to workload and proximity of the available end-users.

In the context of security, in the 5G the previous parameters would be all; many devices, personal data or information would be involved. Apart from this, SDN has a better solution than the security dispute which may be a problem with 5G operators because SDN provide a more secured network policy and access control. This way they are able to manage networks slices used in Virtualization in the networks, hence offer right security measures of different slices in case one is to be isolated from the other if only they will possess different security measures in the case of an incident, intrusion or occurrence of some cases like for example Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) ATTACK. Besides, it is also possible to continue to work on the methods for the, say, rapid determination of security threats, as well as to continue working on the constant analysis of the breaches in security and the development of the measures that are intended to help manage and subsequently reduce the said threats, all of which would contribute to the over-all level of security, stability, and reliability of the network.

From the economic and the operational scenarios about SDN, it is pointed out that it enshrines the principle of. cost cutting and business value in the embracing of 5G. SDN is helpful in OpEx related to CapEx to some extent because it emerges the control over the network from the physical layer at which the equipment is fixed, gets the most out of the already invested assets and helps in deploying new services into the network more methodically. This way OpEx costs are also reduced by centraliztion and automation of the things that need to be procured, having localized and then being fixed & maintained for the network services to run smoothly. Besides, SDN offers service providers an opportunity to look for other sources of revenue, for example, as VS services, partnership with vertical segments for certain applications: smart cities, industrial IoT and given chance of an appealing IT-friendly service which has value in the probability of vNiF with flexibility and scalability.

Conclusion:

SDN is a component that is necessary for the pursuit of the optimality of the potential and the QoS and experiences linked to the 5G networks that would facilitate the offer of the telecommunications services that fit the needs of the various applications that are currently present. As a result, SDN is beneficial to the operator in the ways that it provides network slicing, efficient resource management; integration with edge computing, as well as powerful security solutions. Furthermore, it was beneficial for the end user to expand the closely related potential applications and business models of the prospective telecommunication indicators and technologies. Thus, the evolution and increased deployment of 5G and other aspects are dependent on the appropriate definition of further use of SDN that will enable prospects of new generation of access and the creation of a set of innovative and efficient application across different sectors of industries and social aspects. The inclusion of SDN in the 5G network must also be a game plan that would ensure that the operators have something unique for the competitors as to ensure that users will embrace the 5G innovations that are rolled out and see the value that has been brought to the clients as well as the end users.
